Hello, once again

I am an- cheetah, like the animal that runs superrr fast?

I am passionate about designing for almost any context and love the fact that being in a creative field allows me to tap into a multitude of contexts. I am that person who reads 2 pages of a book and gets superly excited about the next topic and begins digging into that. Adds further to why I love research and experimentation based practices. Finding the new, the unknown tickles my brain and is what keeps me going.

I’m passionate about participatory design, design strategy, research, design for social impact, designing for children, theatre, storytelling, mountains, dogs, cats, landscapes and the list goes on.

Currently a work at Skillmatics, a global toys and games brand, where as a product designer I design play based learning activities, games and toys for children! The part of my job that I love the most is where I get to play with children, test our products with children and also play games for a living and get paid to think like a child. I have recently also started managing projects and I get to see the entire product loop from its inception to production to reaching a consumers hand plus their feedback. Here I get to combine my love for children and play with my apprehensions of a corporat-ish job (?) to push myself to discover new facets of myself and learn from a system I hated without understanding.

I also worked as a research and development fellow at Light Up EMF, where I use design research methodologies to synthesise insights and develop a curriculum for a flagship 2 fold Mental health cum leadership programme for youth from low income communities. Here I get the opportunity to combine my interest in research along with understanding the development sector.

Before this I completed my thesis project in collaboration with the Living Labs Network and Team YUVAA in which I combined my love for theatre with design and community based interventions (I wasn’t lying when I said I’m excited by a lot of things). This led to my first written play still in the works.

While being in a game design environment, constantly designing for player behaviours and actions on a small scale, designing for behaviour began to intrigue me. So I attended a training programme with a beh. sc. consulting to further work with them part time on decoding consumer behaviour for a car company and designing games for beh. change for a non for profit.

This opportunity brought my true love for research together with my growing practice in game design together!

VOLUNTEERING HAS HELPED ME GROW THE MOST

As a teaching a teaching volunteer with Teach for India, I taught english and art to a group of girls from the 4th grade as a part of their extra classes. The enthusiasm that the kids showed to just be able to "ch" instead of "c" and try over and over again till they got it right really dragged me out of the slumps every week. And ofcourse the after class online dance parties I was forced to conduct as a reward for the progress they were making!

Being a city kid, this was the first time I ever stepped out of my bubble to see what the interiors of India were like. While the agenda was to "teach" children in Patan about the heritage their small town and the respect and importance it needed to be given, I guess I was the one being taught about the ignorance we have as forthcoming global citizens, leaving the marvels of our own cultures behind
